The CSNet Book Discussion Group will meet on Tuesday 4 October 2022, at 6.00pm to discuss, “Know Thyself: The New Science of Self-Awareness”, by Stephen M. Fleming, who will be joining us to discuss his book.

Stephen M. Fleming is a cognitive neuroscientist at University College London.  He is a Wellcome/Royal Society Sir Henry Dale Fellow, Dept. of Experimental Psychology & Principal Investigator, Wellcome Centre for Human Neuroimaging, where he leads the Metacognition Group.

Stephen’s book, “Know Thyself: The New Science of Self-Awareness”, provides a guide to the building blocks of self-awareness, drawing on the latest research from psychology, computer science, and neuroscience.  The aim of this new science is to help us unravel the mysteries of how self-awareness works, and its application in other areas of our lives.  In addition, it explores the lack of metacognition in computers, and in machine learning for AI devices.    Stephen will lead our discussion and take questions about his book
