The CSNet Book Discussion Group will meet on Tuesday 19 January 2021, at 6.00pm to discuss, “Uncharted: How to Map the Future Together”, by Dr Margaret Heffernan, who will be joining us to discuss her book.
Dr Margaret Heffernan, Professor of Practice, University of Bath, is a CEO, entrepreneur and well-known author, who mentors CEOs and senior executives of major global organizations. Thus, she has a vast knowledge of organizations, people and places to draw upon. In her book “Uncharted” Margaret looks particularly at people and organizations who are not daunted by uncertainty. In the wake of COVID and BREXIT that is a hard ask for businesses to swallow, but the book takes an optimistic view. She acknowledges that models for knowing the future are unhelpful and urges us to explore the contours and landscape of possibility, without being dominated by the perfection of machines. Instead, Margaret advocates an approach to the future with fervent curiosity, by applying a methodology that progresses with questions, and opens up a new social contract between leaders and followers. If you are interested in the future of work, and the sharing of responsibilities, here is an opportunity to discuss the book.
