John Jeffcock’s book gives an excellent account of developing trends in the structure and responsibilities of senior management teams.  It is of great interest to anyone aspiring to fill such roles or to understand the current and future dynamics of leadership teams in a wide range of organizations. 

Through personal and observed examples the book raises crucial issues of what makes for effective operating arrangements and how board and senior team relationships can best be developed.

It explores areas relevant to large companies and smaller enterprises such as charities and school boards.  In our discussion group this sparked a spirited debate about ways of assessing and auditing top team performance.
